Disciplinary Policy for Members

Disciplinary Policy for Members: Non-Compliance with Children's Basketball Team Code of Conduct

Introduction

This policy outlines the expectations for parents associated with BMBA’s basketball teams and the consequences for non-compliance with the established code of conduct. Member refers to Parents, Coaches and players going forward.

Code of Conduct

Members are expected to adhere to the BMBA Code of Conduct that promotes a positive and supportive environment for all the Bedford Eagles’s basketball teams. This includes respectful behavior, safe play, and cooperation with coaches, team members, and other parents.

Sideline Behavior

Members are to maintain positive and supportive behavior during games and practices. Negative comments, harassment, or disruptive behavior toward coaches, referees, players, or other parents are strictly prohibited.

Communication

Members should communicate respectfully with coaches, team members, and other parents. Disputes or concerns should be addressed through appropriate channels, avoiding public confrontations.

Respect for Authority

Members should demonstrate respect for coaches, referees, and other authoritative figures involved with the team. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior towards authority figures will not be tolerated.

Consequences for Non-Compliance

In the event of a breach of BMBA’s Code of Conduct, any of the following consequences may be applied depending on the level of breach:

      - Verbal Warning: A verbal warning will be issued for a first-time offense, emphasizing the importance of adherence to the Code of Conduct.

      - Written Warning: If non-compliant behavior persists, a written warning will be issued, specifying the nature of the violation and potential consequences for future infractions.

     - Suspension

Continued non-compliance will result in a temporary suspension from attending games and practices, with a specified duration based on the severity of the behavior.

Appeals Process

Members have the right to appeal disciplinary actions. Appeals should be submitted in writing to the appropriate team authority within a specified timeframe. There is a fee for appealing suspensions of $100.00 by cheque made payable to BMBA. This fee is only applied to BMBA suspensions and does not apply to suspensions handed down from any league or BNS sanctioned event. The appeal will be reviewed, and a decision communicated to the Member involved.

Review and Modification

This policy will be periodically reviewed to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. Modifications may be made as necessary, with input from coaches, parents, and other relevant stakeholders.

By enrolling their children in the basketball program, parents acknowledge their understanding and acceptance of this disciplinary policy for all household members and any parties who may be connected to your child.
