Players will be grouped into pools for the first step classification process. This will all be posted online and emailed to all participants.
End goal of this process will be to rank each player in the classifications from #1 (being the top player) to the last player in each pool.
Every player must receive a ranking. There does NOT need to be consensus between the evaluators when ranking a player. Evaluators complete their own set of rankings. A player can be moved up or down between pools if there is consensus that a player is in the wrong pool.
All evaluators and identified coaches will attend the final tryout. Players will arrive to the final round of tryouts by pool and coaches will receive each pools’ player-ranking list. Evaluators will see another hour of scrummaging/drills and be able to make changes to their respective rankings. These will be the final rankings used by coaches as they make their selections. The athletes signed up for REP will be put through another round of classifications and must be at 2 out of the 3 sessions in order to be considered for a REP team. Rec players only need to attend one classification session.
End goal of this round of classification will allow Coaches to select their team from the final ranking list, with the oversight of the Board. Teams are selected in descending order starting with Division 1.
Any anticipated parent coaches, of division 1 or 2 teams, will be allowed in the gym for the final tryout to assess the players and watch players for eventual team construction. The Board can approve anticipated parent coaches for non-REP team final tryouts on an exception basis as well.
